  13. 203 North Terrace is finally structurally completed

Outstanding job by Synergy Construct to structurally complete 203 North Terrace in Adelaide in less than 12 months.

This 35-storey building is the 2nd tallest residential building In Adelaide and 4th tallest tower in South Australia.

Hera Engineering involvement with the project started with an initial review of the proposed scheme which was over-budgeted and therefore it would have resulted in slowness of construction. Our initial review let to a full architectural re-design of the project with a complete shift of the core and change or facade to pre-cast. Our re-design was heavily focused on optimal constructability and speed of construction.

The existing heritage structure posed a big challenge to the construction of the pile foundation and bottom levels. We worked very closely with Synergy Construct to solve these challenges.

INNOVIS Consulting assisted Hera Engineering with site inspections throughout the project.

  86. Matteo Tirapelle speaks at the World Engineering Conference in Melbourne

Great talk by our Managing Director Matteo Tirapelle at the World Engineering Conference in Melbourne (organised by Engineers Australia).

Matteo spoke about Hera Engineering experience with sustainable use of structural steel to construct high rise buildings and reduce embodied energies during construction.

On 300 George Street, our alternative design removed more than 2500 concrete trucks from the street.

Our commitment to sustainable design is stronger than ever and the goal on all our projects is to be creative during the concept phase to optimise the design which results in materials reductions and time savings. This in not only a cost saving for the client but a structure with less embodied energy during construction.

The very fast “infinity jump ” construction system has been completely installed and the first concrete has been cast. So here we are: the construction of the 82-storey tower, the highest in Brisbane, has entered its concrete phase.

We have worked closely with the Multiplex Construction, detailing every part of the project to ensure that the system will work without problems and achieve its construction cycle plan of one floor every 4 days. We have made many 3D design details to detect every little clash, including the reinforcement and concrete penetrations in order to avoid anomalies in the construction phase.

We are extremely proud of our design’s precision, which has been laborious but will ensure a regular construction phase of the 82-storey tower at 300 George Street, which according to forecasts will be completed by 2020.

  96. Destination Gold Coast Consortium chooses Hera Engineering to design a new tower in Gold Coast, in the Broadbech area

We are happy to share some important news with you concerning our company. The client Destination Gold Coast Consortium has appointed Hera Engineering for the design of tower 2 of the iconic development at Broadbeach, an area where the casino is also located.

We are extremely proud of this result, because it is clear recognition of the fact that great and sophisticated international clients recognize that we are leaders in high rise design innovation. Hera Engineering in fact constantly invests its resources in order to study the best innovative engineering solutions to enhance construction, reducing its time and costs.

  97. Special structural design in steel and facades at 443 Queen Street

Hera Engineering has been commissioned by Probuild to design and document the special structural steel to support the complex pudium’s cladding for the high rise in 443 Queen Street, Brisbane. The project by the international architect Woha is very complex and requires complete modelling of the steel using BIM software.

The shape of the structure is not linear, but follows all sorts of different angles and patterns to achieve the best architectural vision. Once again Hera Engineering has been able to identify an innovative engineering solution that has reduced steel tonnages and simplified connections.

In fact Probuild chose us because of our ability to parametrically model the steel for complex facades and ensure that it could be fully coordinated and correctly detailed.

This is another important iconic façade project to be realized by Hera Engineering, enriching the portfolio of works studied with an innovative approach, reducing costs and increasing value.

  98. Hera to design the two highest towers in Canberra in keeping with Value Engineering

An important new threshold for Hera Engineering. We have been chosen by Geocon to redesign Canberra’s tallest towers. The height of tower 1 is 117m, while tower 2 is 112m, with a total of 27 floors , plus 3 underground levels. The project is actually more extensive involving the development of 5 towers on a common podium.

Geocon originally contacted Hera Engineering to gain some advice on how to proceed with construction and being very satisfied they asked us to propose a design alternative. This proved to be more innovative than their building method so as a consequence they hired us to complete the work. We have removed over 1500 cubic meters of concrete from the project, but at the same time this solution has greatly accelerated construction, making the project’s realization become possible through reducing expenses.
