Our engagement on the Edgewater Car Park project, a significant upgrade adjacent to the Joondalup line, demonstrates our expertise in addressing complex engineering challenges. Commissioned by the Public Transport Authority and constructed by Georgiou, the project was completed in 2017. This endeavor expanded the station’s parking capacity to approximately 1,450 bays, enhancing commuter accessibility and convenience.
Located in Edgewater, Western Australia, the structure spans two levels and stands 8 meters high, embodying a commitment to maximizing security, natural lighting, ventilation, and providing weather protection. A key feature includes a façade design aimed at harmonizing with the local aesthetic and suggesting occupancy, incorporating a lift, open staircase, and façade screening for half of the edifice.
A noteworthy aspect of this project was the relocation of large in-ground services during the early stages of construction, underscoring the intricate nature of expanding infrastructure within an existing and operational urban environment. Our role, focusing on the construction engineering segment, was pivotal in navigating the high-risk elements associated with the relocation works, driven by a principle of safety in design.
The Edgewater Car Park project serves not just as an infrastructure enhancement but as a testament to collaborative problem-solving and engineering acumen in the face of logistical and technical intricacies (Hera Engineering) (Georgiou).
