This boutique development presented some exciting structural challenges with a small site size, demanding setback restraints, and driveway passing directly under the main structure. A conventional in-situ solution was not cost-effective and the instruction from the Client was to come up with a solution with reduced transfer elements and faster to construct.
At Hera Engineering we are passionate about experimenting with new materials and different building strategies. Making use of our firm’s well-rounded experience with different construction methodologies we came up with a permanent form-work solution which satisfied our Client’s goals. Our proposed structural system had no transfer elements and utilize a light-weight wall system which proved to be not only economical but also met all BCA requirements, including fire and acoustics.
In addition, our recommendation for additional geotechnical investigations, although a small upfront cost, created substantial savings in foundation sizes and was greatly appreciated by the builder.
