This residential project, designed by Architectus and developed by Sirona Urban, consists of two buildings over a single-level podium, featuring 215 high-quality apartments, retail spaces, and a north-facing communal landscaped courtyard. Our involvement includes structural and civil engineering and has been integral in ensuring the structural integrity and functionality of the development, particularly in the challenging context of Fremantle’s dynamic urban landscape.
One of the key aspects of our work on 8 Point Street has been the design of post-tensioned reinforced concrete slabs with in-situ cores. This construction technique not only provides the necessary strength and stability for the seven-storey residential building but also allows for an economical and efficient building process. Additionally, the project includes a commercial level on the ground floor, which required careful coordination with all stakeholders to ensure that the structure would support the diverse range of uses.
The location of 8 Point Street poses unique challenges, particularly with the proximity to water and the presence of a basement level. Our team will be actively involved in managing the foundation challenges to ensure the longevity and safety of the structure.
