Marmion Foreshore Car Park Structure

Although not normally associated with creative designs, this car park is an eye-catching structure with its stylish projection from the Marmion Foreshore. The initial concept design by the original structural consultant would have been extremely difficult to achieve with the topography of the site. Hera Engineering was called on by contractor during the tender stage to improve constructability while maintaining the artistic vision.

We collaborated closely with the contractor and developed an alternative to the original in-situ design. Our solution was to use precast beams which greatly simplified the construction process.

The main complexity with this methodology was the connection between the precast beams and the in-situ piles.

Challenges such as this are nothing new for us and we relished the opportunity to use our experience and problem-solving abilities to deliver a practical solution for the contractor.
