For the Caboolture Hospital expansion and the new multi-storey car park, Hera Engineering played a pivotal role as the specialized post-tension structural designer. The project, part of a $400 million redevelopment, aimed to meet the growing healthcare demands of the Caboolture community, with the population projected to increase by 51% by 2031.
Our engagement in this critical infrastructure project focused on developing post-tension designs for both the hospital’s new extension and the adjoining car park. Given the project’s scale and its significance to the health sector in South-East Queensland, our team’s expertise in post-tension structural design was crucial.
The redevelopment project included a new five-storey Clinical Services Building and a comprehensive refurbishment program within the existing hospital premises, enhancing and modernizing several key areas. Additionally, the new multi-storey car park was a significant component of this redevelopment, aimed at providing safe, accessible, and adequate parking for both staff and visitors.
Our role involved meticulously planning and executing the post-tension design to accommodate the large spans, vibration analysis and service coordination for the hospital structures and the car park. This approach was instrumental in achieving the desired spans without compromising structural integrity or safety. Utilizing advanced finite element design techniques, we ensured that both the hospital extension and the car park were not only structurally sound but also optimized for space and efficiency.
Through collaboration with Lendlease, the project’s construction group, and other stakeholders, Hera Engineering contributed to delivering a modern health facility that supports a wide range of specialized healthcare services and complex needs of the community. The successful completion of this project stands as a testament to our commitment to excellence in structural engineering and our contribution to enhancing healthcare infrastructure in Queensland
