Hera Engineering assisted Australian Development Capital throughout the various Development Applications (DA) for the redevelopment of this heritage site in the heart of Northbridge. The main challenge of this site is the fact that it is located directly over the northbridge tunnel which has very strict loadings requirements and typically allows a maximum height limit of 3 storeys.

Our team is always very creative when it comes to proposing site and project specific structural solutions. To maximise the benefit to the developer light weight mass timber construction was proposed to the client, who was very excited about this opportunity and decided to move forward with it. Hera Engineering worked directly with the statutory authorities to present the scheme and schematic drawings, to allow DA approval to be granted.

Our team is highly skilled with mass timber design due to extensive experience with this material on various projects. Matteo Tirapelle is also part of an international committee of timber experts that share knowledge about tricky aspect of timber construction such as dynamic analysis, fire protection, durability and acoustic performance.
The project is now in detailed design and once constructed it will be one of the tallest timber structures in Australia.
