About Matteo Tirapelle

Matteo Tirapelle is the Founder and Managing Director at Hera Engineering, where he manages the strategic direction and culture of the business, and oversees project management. With 20 years experience in the industry, his primary responsibilities include working with clients on the schematic design of projects to ensure budget compliance and constructability, as well as guiding the company’s overall strategic vision.

Throughout his career, Matteo has managed structural design teams and led projects focused on sustainable building practices and innovative engineering solutions. His notable projects include the WA Museum, Brisbane Quarter, Queen’s Wharf, Republic, WOVA, Lakelands Station, and many others. He has worked on the tallest tower in both Brisbane and Canberra, as well as the tallest residential building in Western Australia. Matteo’s expertise encompasses structural design, facades, temporary works, and post-tensioning. His contributions to the field have been recognised with several prestigious awards, including the 2022 WA Professional Engineer of the Year, the 2018 40 Under 40 award, and the 2021 WA Business of the Year award.

Outside of work, Matteo enjoys windsurfing, cycling, skiing, playing the guitar, and engaging in home DIY projects. He is actively involved in surf life-saving community services. Matteo is dedicated to promoting sustainable engineering practices through clever design, aiming to reduce material use in buildings and contribute to the development of more sustainable cities.
