Our structural engineering involvement in Mos Lane significantly focused on integrating architectural aspirations with robust structural solutions. The project’s facade is a reflection of this intricate integration, featuring a mix of Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) and lightweight construction elements. The use of GRC and lightweight materials necessitated a detailed analysis to accommodate the varying loads and ensure structural integrity while achieving the desired architectural outcomes. The lightweight construction elements, in particular, demanded innovative structural solutions to support the facade without compromising on design or safety standards.

Our team worked closely with NH Architecture to develop a structural framework that seamlessly integrates with the facade’s architectural features. This collaboration was pivotal in ensuring that the structural design did not restrict the architectural vision, especially concerning the facade’s complex geometries and materials. The integration of GRC panels, known for their durability and aesthetic flexibility, with lightweight construction, required a delicate balance of structural ingenuity and architectural sensitivity.

One of the critical aspects of our involvement was ensuring that the structural design accommodated the large spans required at the ground floor for the commercial spaces. The post-tensioned slabs played a crucial role in this, allowing for large spans between columns which facilitated a versatile commercial grid while supporting the residential spaces above. This approach not only met the practical requirements of the commercial spaces but also maintained the architectural integrity of the residential areas, all within the constraints of thin slab construction.

Additionally, our structural design efforts were aimed at minimizing the use of transfer elements, a move that significantly reduced material quantities and streamlined construction. This achievement was a result of close coordination with the architect, led by our proactive structural ideas, underscoring our commitment to sustainable and efficient design practices.
