240 Margaret is a notable addition to Brisbane’s skyline, serving as a modern student accommodation facility. This 32-level building is designed to cater to the needs of students, providing comfortable living spaces and convenient access to educational institutions and city amenities.

In line with our commitment to innovative and sustainable engineering, Hera Engineering is providing structural engineering services for this project. The building is constructed using post-tensioned slabs and a jump form core system, which allows for efficient and speedy construction while maintaining structural integrity.

One of the challenges we faced in the design of 240 Margaret was the presence of surrounding buildings with lower basement levels. To ensure that our construction did not impose any surcharge on these neighbouring structures, we had to carefully design the foundations. Our solution was to use piles, which provide a deep foundation system capable of transferring the building’s loads to deeper, more stable soil layers. This approach not only addresses the challenge of the surrounding basements but also ensures the long-term stability and safety of the building.
