In our role at the Busselton Administration Center, we were tasked with both value engineering and structural engineering services, demonstrating our commitment to efficiency and innovation in construction.

Engaged during the tender stage by BGC Construction, we conducted a comprehensive value engineering assessment, which led to a transformative approach in the project’s execution. Our alternative design transitioned from the originally documented in-situ solution to a fully prefabricated system. This system utilized hollow core planks, capable of spanning up to 16 meters, along with prefabricated columns and beams, thereby simplifying the construction process. This method was particularly advantageous given the location’s limited access to trades, emphasizing the importance of reducing the onsite workforce.

One of the critical challenges we addressed was the site’s poor soil conditions, which traditionally would necessitate a high number of piles. Our innovative approach reduced the number of piles required, offering substantial benefits in terms of cost savings and reduced environmental impact. Furthermore, the adoption of the hollow core solution facilitated the removal of several internal columns, resulting in an open-plan space that provides greater long-term flexibility for the client.

Our involvement in the Busselton Administration Center project underscores our dedication to delivering high-quality, sustainable, and efficient construction solutions. Through strategic planning and engineering excellence, we achieved a streamlined construction process, enhanced structural integrity, and provided our client with a versatile building that meets the evolving needs of the Busselton community. This project exemplifies our commitment to innovation in the field of engineering and construction, marking a significant contribution to our portfolio of successful projects.
