At Hera Engineering, our contribution to the Cirque Duet project in Perth has been primarily focused on structural engineering, post-tension design, and managing temporary works. This project, undertaken in partnership with Erben, MJA, and Icon, is currently under construction and features a strategic design that enhances both aesthetic appeal and functional efficiency across its two high-rise towers.
Our engineering strategies were crucial in achieving a streamlined construction process for this 21-storey development. By minimizing the number of transfer elements in the building’s design, we not only reduced the complexity and potential points of failure in the structure but also significantly cut down on material costs. This approach was instrumental in keeping the project within the budgetary framework set by Icon, showcasing our ability to deliver cost-effective solutions without compromising on structural integrity.
Moreover, our design leveraged the benefits of post-tensioning in the slabs, which allowed for thinner floor plates, reducing the overall weight of the building and hence the load on the foundation. This not only improves the seismic resilience of the structure but also contributes to a reduction in the use of concrete and steel, thus lowering the carbon footprint of the project.
