Hera was appointed by Canberra’s largest developer, Geocon, for the re-design of the two tallest buildings of the Republic precinct which stand unchallenged as Canberra’s highest towers.
The two 27-storey glass towers are 111 and 98 meters tall and were designed by international architect Fender Katsalidis. Due to our extensive value engineering experience, we saved more than 1,000 cubic meters of concrete, removed a complete level of transfer beams and simplified the existing transfer levels. Constructability has also been substantially improved. We are also providing detailed design of the post tensioned floors.
Hera Engineering was appointed for the re-design while the site excavation was occurring. We were able to re-design and coordinate in record time to suit the project schedule. This was achieved thanks to our engineering team that is highly experienced in the design of towers. Our alternative construction methodology of the transfer levels allowed for the early hand over of the car park which made the project feasible for the developer.
