Curtin University is undertaking upgrades to the John Curtin Gallery and John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library, comprising extensions, a new entrance area and broader renovation works to the existing facilities.
We are providing structural engineering services for the project, including the design and coordination of structural elements associated with the new and modified areas. Construction has progressed through the foundation works, with the raft slab completed to provide the structural base for the subsequent stages of construction.
The works have also involved excavation immediately adjacent to existing building foundations. Due to the proximity of the excavation, grout injection was undertaken to support the existing foundations and manage the risk of undermining during construction. This required coordination between the structural design, existing site conditions and construction methodology.
Our involvement continues through the construction phase as the new structure and renovation works progress on site.
