We are providing structural engineering, temporary works, and value engineering services for the Brisbane B2 NEXTDC Data Centre, a seven-storey concrete structure currently under construction in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. Our involvement has focused on optimizing the structural design to accommodate the heavy slab loadings required for the data centre’s racking systems, while achieving substantial cost savings compared to the initial reference design.
Through our value engineering efforts, we identified opportunities to streamline the structural system, resulting in a more efficient and lighter design without compromising performance or safety. This approach has led to significant reductions in material usage and construction costs, enhancing the project’s overall economic viability.
In addition to structural optimization, we have been responsible for designing temporary works to support the construction process. This includes developing solutions that ensure stability and safety during the erection of the concrete structure, facilitating a smooth and efficient construction timeline.
Our collaboration with NEXTDC, Architectus, and Multiplex has been instrumental in delivering a data centre that meets the stringent requirements of modern data storage facilities. By focusing on structural efficiency and cost-effectiveness, we have contributed to a project that sets new benchmarks for data centre design and construction in the region.
