Hera Engineering was appointed by Multiplex, one of Australian’s largest construction companies, to study alternative construction methodologies and structural systems to reduce the total cost of the structure and shorten the program.
One of the main challenge of this value engineering process was the simplification of the foundation system. Our experience with clever vertical engineering allowed us to remove most of the transfer slabs without compromising the architectural intent. The reduction in weight allowed the complete removal of the foundations piles which resulted in a major program saving.
Our construction engineering team provided a solution to remove all the ground anchors required for the temporary supports of the secant pile walls during excavation.
The alternative slab system that we proposed has been adopted by the current contractor as the solution for both towers.
We are currently working with the selected contractor on the design of four tower cranes required to build the two towers.
