Wova, situated in the heart of Canberra’s Woden Valley, stands as a testament to modern urban redevelopment and architectural brilliance. This Geocon development, designed by the renowned Fender Katsalidis Architects, is at the forefront of the multi-billion dollar rejuvenation of the old Woden Town Centre. Located just a ten-minute drive from Canberra’s City Centre, Wova offers a unique blend of high-end amenities and convenient transport options, setting a new standard for community living in the Woden Valley.
The development comprises four distinct towers, with the tallest reaching 26 stories, all constructed using reinforced concrete. Noteworthy for its innovative construction techniques, Wova employs jump form systems for the cores and flat post-tensioned slabs, with three levels of basements to accommodate residential needs. A significant sustainability feature introduced by Hera Engineering in the second stage of the project was the replacement of transfer slabs with transfer beams, significantly reducing material usage without compromising structural integrity.
Wova is more than just a residential complex; it’s a lifestyle precinct offering 802 apartments and 2,415 sqm of commercial space. The amenities are designed to cater to every aspect of modern living, including a lap pool & sauna, resident private cinema, co-working spaces, a contemplative rooftop terrace, fitness studio, bar club lounge, and a chef’s kitchen & dining room.
As Canberra’s largest single-unit development, Wova is breaking records not only in scale but also in sales, underscoring Geocon’s successful project management and innovative approaches to construction. The project utilises approximately 30,000 cubic meters of concrete and 4,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement, highlighting the sheer magnitude of this development effort.
Completion of Wova is eagerly anticipated in Q4 2024, promising to transform Canberra’s skyline and redefine urban living in the Woden Valley. This project not only signifies a significant architectural and development milestone for Geocon but also marks a pivotal moment in Canberra’s urban development landscape
