At Hera Engineering, we were entrusted by Perkins Builders to conduct a Structural Fire Engineering study for the Ezone UWA Student Hub, a project conceived with the vision of creating a dynamic space with minimum supporting columns, leveraging extensive use of exposed structural steel. This very architectural building, designed by the internationally acclaimed Hassell, stands as a testament to innovation and collaboration at the University of Western Australia.
Our involvement in the project was driven by the goal to optimize fire protection measures, culminating in a solution that not only adhered to stringent safety standards but also realized significant cost efficiencies, saving over $500,000 for the project. Completed in 2020, the Ezone UWA Student Hub spans four stories and reaches a height of 25 meters, featuring a single basement and embodying the spirit of construction engineering and structural fire engineering excellence.
Our approach emphasized not just the practical aspects of structural engineering but also aligned with the project’s innovative spirit and Hassell’s architectural vision.
