Nesuto Hotel Curtin University

In our collaborative endeavor with Probuild for the Curtin University Nesuto Hotel project in Perth, our involvement primarily encompassed structural engineering, temporary works, and post-tension design for this hotel establishment. Situated within the bustling commercial and educational vicinity of Bentley, merely 8km south of Perth CBD, the 8-story concrete structure is now fully constructed.

Our initial engagement during the tender phase allowed us to scrutinise and enhance the existing structural design significantly. Notably, we revised the entire structural columns layout and construction methodologies. These alterations not only resulted in considerable savings but also expedited the construction process, ultimately leading to Probuild winning the project bid and our selection as the structural engineers.

Our strategies led to a 30% reduction in concrete volume and reinforcement, which in turn decreased the permanent embodied energy of the building. Moreover, we integrated precast core walls and columns into the design, emphasising sustainability and efficiency. The hotel, now an integral part of Curtin University, provides a blend of hotel rooms and two-bedroom suites, catering to both short and long stays.
