Woolworths Duncraig – Construction Progress Update

Construction is progressing at the Woolworths Duncraig redevelopment, a $32M project that will deliver a new shopping centre anchored by a 4,000sqm Woolworths supermarket, supported by specialty retail tenancies, food and beverage offerings, health services, and a multi-level car park.

The project has recently reached several key construction milestones, with the boundary retaining now complete, the crane base poured, and raft slab pours currently underway.

Hera Engineering is providing structural engineering and post-tensioning design services across the entire development, including the Woolworths tenancy, surrounding retail spaces and the basement and ground-level parking facilities.

One of the key structural challenges on this project has been the site’s ground conditions, requiring careful coordination between the geotechnical, structural and construction teams to develop practical and efficient solutions.

The project incorporates post-tensioned slab systems to achieve the long spans required for modern retail environments. These systems reduce the need for internal columns, creating flexible tenancy layouts while improving constructability and material efficiency.

Duncraig continues Hera Engineering’s long-standing relationship with Woolworths, following the delivery of major developments including Clarkson and Kingsford Village Bullsbrook, together with a number of other supermarket and retail projects across Western Australia.

We look forward to seeing the project continue to take shape alongside ATLAS BUILDING (WA), Fabcot and the wider project team.
