We are pleased to mark the structural topping out of Bel Air Apartments in Perth, delivered in collaboration with Finbar, SS Chan and Hanssen Construction.
This 10-storey residential development incorporates a structural system that prioritises efficiency and constructability. Hera Engineering provided structural engineering services, with a design approach centred on integrating bubbledeck slabs and prefabricated wall elements. These systems have supported streamlined construction processes while maintaining the required structural performance.
The use of bubbledeck technology has enabled a reduction in concrete volume within the slabs, contributing to a lighter structure and improved material efficiency. In combination with prefabricated walls, this approach has also facilitated a more controlled construction sequence, reducing on-site labour intensity and improving overall buildability.
From a sustainability perspective, the extensive use of precast elements alongside the reduced concrete demand has contributed to lowering the permanent embodied carbon of the structure. These outcomes align with a broader focus on delivering practical and efficient structural solutions.
We acknowledge the coordinated efforts of the project team in reaching this milestone and look forward to the completion of the development.
