Hera Engineering Reduces Tender by 30%

The team at Hera Engineering is hard at work for Central Prestressing on the detailed design of the post-tensioned slab for the Westin Hotel.
The Hera team was appointed during the tender process to review the project engineer design and evaluate if the reinforcement and post tensioned could be reduced.
“The answer was yes,” says Hera Engineering Director Matteo Tirapelle, explaining how Hera’s vast experience in creative structural design resulted in tender rates being reduced by an extraordinary 30%, giving CPS a clear advantage compared to other post tension subcontractors pricing the project and enabling them to win the project.
“We are proud of the way that we won this project,” Matteo adds. “We did so on merit and by using our smarts, rather than trying to offer the lowest fee.”
The builder, Bpi, was unfamiliar with Hera but was impressed with the intelligent solutions it offered and decided to give the firm the tower temporary works design for package.
“There will be extreme challenges with this because the construction methodology is utilising heavy equipment that will be hanging from the slab,” Matteo explains. “Safety in design and precision will be paramount, however we can’t over-design because otherwise cost will escalate, so we’ll need to be extremely precise in our calculations.”
Matteo says the team are proud to be involved in what will be one of Perth’s most luxurious hotels and is looking forward to see this project up and running.
