We are pleased to share progress on the NextDC Sunshine Coast Data Centre, currently under construction in collaboration with NextDC and Watpac.
Hera Engineering has delivered structural engineering, post-tensioned design and precast design services for this multi-storey data centre. The structure incorporates post-tensioned slabs and precast cores, forming a system that supports both performance requirements and construction efficiency.
A key feature of the project is the development of a 3D modular precast core solution, delivered in close collaboration with LTE Precast and Watpac. This methodology has enabled full core lifts to be installed within a week, providing a clear programme advantage and reducing on-site construction durations. The integration of prefabricated elements has required a high level of coordination across design, fabrication and installation phases.
Our team has remained closely involved to ensure that documentation and detailing align with site requirements, supporting a streamlined construction process. This collaborative approach has contributed to maintaining momentum on site while managing the complexities associated with a data centre environment.
From a sustainability perspective, the use of prefabrication has reduced material waste and improved construction efficiency, contributing to a more controlled and resource-conscious delivery.
We look forward to further progress as the project advances.
