For the Bunbury Centerpoint project, now known as the Stirling Centre, Hera Engineering’s role was integral in the structural engineering and post-tension design of this A-grade commercial office development. This project, situated in Bunbury, WA, was a significant local project built by Georgiou Group for Centuria, (previously Primewest), with Cox Architecture designing the structure. The building, a $17 million investment, spans four stories over a 4,500 sqm area and is fully leased to the Federal Government’s Services Australia.
One of the project’s peculiar challenges included addressing the high water table in Bunbury, which necessitated careful consideration for the foundation and lift pit design. This aspect was crucial to ensure the structural integrity and longevity of the building in a region where such environmental factors can significantly impact construction projects.
The Stirling Centre is designed to incorporate sustainable features aiming for a 4.5-star NABERS rating and a 4-star Green Star rating, highlighting the project’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Large floor plates of 1,200sqm, state-of-the-art end-of-trip facilities, and its strategic location within the broader Bunbury Centrepoint Shopping Centre complex, make it a landmark development in the area. The project not only enhances the local business district but also supports the federal government’s operational needs in the region, with completion achieved in November 2022.
