Woolworth Inglewood, represents a significant milestone in retail infrastructure development in Perth, showcasing our expertise in structural engineering and innovative construction techniques. This $35M three-storey shopping center, which officially opened its doors to the public in March 2021, includes a diverse mix of amenities including a Woolworth supermarket, liquor store, restaurant, convenience store, fast food outlet, and accommodates 193 parking bays. The center was meticulously designed by Brown Falconer and built by Broad Construction, with us, Hera Engineering, taking the helm in delivering comprehensive structural engineering solutions and contributing to the façade design elements.
Situated in a challenging location due to a high water table, our team employed advanced engineering methods to ensure a swift construction process while minimizing dewatering time, thereby achieving cost-effectiveness. A key feature of our engineering prowess was the design of a hydrostatic slab and secant pile walls to manage the basement’s submerged conditions effectively. Additionally, our innovative approach extended to the structural layout and methodology, where we implemented significant redesign improvements to ensure the building’s resilience and stability. We also optimized the design of long-spanning slabs to accommodate the Woolworth layout, meticulously balancing the need for structural integrity with cost efficiency.
Our involvement in Woolworth Inglewood underscores our commitment to excellence in engineering, demonstrating our ability to tackle complex challenges through innovative solutions. This project not only stands as a testament to our structural engineering expertise but also highlights our dedication to sustainable and cost-effective construction practices.
