Ezone UWA won the Hillson Beasley Award for Educational Architecture

Our project EZONE, the latest addition to the University of Western Australia, won the Hillson Beasley Award for Educational Architecture in the Australian Institute of Architects Awards.

The building, designed by international architect Hassell, connects people, ideas, places, and blurs traditional boundaries that separates disciplines, students, research and industry. Indeed, the architectural vision was to have large open space without supporting columns. This was achieved by extensive use of exposed structural steel.

Hera Engineering was appointed by Perkins Builder to undertake an innovative Structural Fire Engineering study with the aim to reduce passive fire protection. Our design solution utilizing cutting edge finite element analysis was adopted and resulted in large cost savings to the project and program acceleration.
